🧭 EDITORIAL STANDARDS PAGE – Barbados Policy Pulse

Our Editorial Values

Barbados Policy Pulse operates on the principles of clarity, neutrality, transparency, and accuracy. Our goal is to explain policy—not influence political outcomes.

Our editorial process follows four core values:

1. Non‑Partisanship

We do not endorse political parties, candidates, or campaigns.
Our reporting focuses on:

  • Governance
  • Policy
  • Public information
  • National development
  • Constituency service effectiveness

We avoid subjective political opinions and refrain from political persuasion.

2. Accuracy & Source Transparency

We rely primarily on verifiable public information, including:

  • Official government releases
  • Parliamentary records
  • Public data sets
  • Auditor General reports
  • Legislation and regulations
  • Credible, publicly accessible sources

All factual claims are linked or referenced where possible.

3. Right of Reply

If we report on an MP’s performance or highlight community concerns involving a public office, we provide:

  • An option for the MP or their office to respond
  • A 48‑hour reply window before publishing performance claims
  • Corrections or updates if new verified information becomes available

4. Clear Distinction Between Article Types

Every article falls into one of three categories:

Analysis:
Data-driven review of policy, governance, or economic conditions.

Explainer:
Plain‑language summaries of policies, bills, programs, or government processes.

Reporting:
Neutral summaries of verified events or official releases.

Opinion pieces are currently not published.

Corrections Policy

If information is discovered to be incomplete or incorrect:

  • We update the article
  • We add a note at the bottom explaining what changed
  • We timestamp the correction

Transparency is more important than perfection.

Use of Citizen Submissions

We accept community feedback to understand constituency issues, but:

  • We do not publish personal details without consent
  • We verify claims where possible
  • We avoid publishing allegations
  • We use submissions primarily for issue mapping, trend identification, or prompting public service follow‑ups

AI Use Policy

Drafting assistance may be used for structure or clarity, but:

  • All content is human-edited
  • All facts are sourced independently from official public information
  • No AI‑generated content is published verbatim without review
